SAYL is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides one-to-one reading assistance to elementary children.
In 71 schools across San Antonio, volunteers tutor children who struggle with basic reading and comprehension skills.

At San Antonio Youth Literacy, we provide one-on-one support to children in San Antonio by empowering them with the skills needed to read to learn while fostering self-confidence and an enjoyment of reading. We warmly welcome and embrace students, volunteers, educators, staff, and other partners of every race, religion, age, identity, or ability in our diverse community.
Key Dates for SAYL:
1984
In 1984, our Founder, along with concerned businessmen and women, committed to reducing functional illiteracy among the youth of our city and founded San Antonio Youth Literacy (SAYL).
1989
SAYL is commissioned as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that provides one-to-one reading assistance to elementary children.
2017
SAYL grows to helping over 65 schools across San Antonio, with volunteers tutoring children who struggle with basic reading and comprehension skills.
